Beauty is subjective. The flower, the fragrance, the music, and the paint that attract someone are not generally accepted. When beauty is the basis of a relationship, it’s like a castle of cards built on a hilltop. Remember that Pierre de Ronsard was crazy for the beauty of a woman saying that “Mignonne, let’s go see if the rose which this morning had opened her purple dress in the sun, has not lost this vesper, the folds of her purple dress, and her complexion like yours.” In turn, passionate for the beauty of his Nefertiti, Akhenaton said, “when virtue and modesty enlighten her charms, the luster of a beautiful woman is brighter than the stars of heaven, and the influence of her power is vain to resist.” Is that inner beauty?
Beauty exists in mind; therefore, your eyes don’t see it when internal, but your heart does. Inner beauty attracts true love, and it should be the essential part of improving oneself.
For a house to resists natural disasters, its foundation must be solid. A relationship based only on external beauty cannot survive the human catastrophe. Let’s prioritize inner beauty.
